Coventry sack Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni

League one side Coventry City have sacked Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni

    - Yakubu's contract was terminated after three months of joining the club

    - He only played 69 minutes of football for the club before being shown the exit doors

Coventry City have terminated the contract of Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni after just 69 minutes of football for the English club.

Aiyegbeni joined the Sky Blues in February 2017 and has played three games accumulating to 69 minutes of football.

But Yakubu was hampered by a knee injury which he sustained against Swindon at the end of February 2017 in a game which would prove to be his last for the League One club.

The former Everton star joined Coventry six months after his deal with Turkish club Kayerispor had ended.

Yakubu, 34, also enjoyed successful spells at Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers before making fleeting appearances for other clubs.
